Many motorcyclists have carabiners hanging somewhere on their bikes, on their luggage, or on some other object hanging on their bikes. I have often wondered: are these things for looks, or is there a bona fide purpose?  In other words, do things need to hang on the bike as opposed to being placed in a pocket or inside luggage, etc.  Oh yes, sunscreen, chap stick, keys etc. were just some of the apparently essential items attached to the carabiners, which are in turn attached to something on the bike.
